J. Patrick McCreary is a Senior Policy Advisor with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. McCreary plays an active role as the Senior Policy Advisor for the Information Technology Office. He coordinates activities that have national policy impact, and supports internal and external liaison between national associations, academic institutions, private sector and local, state and federal agencies. Mr. McCreary also serves as the Designated Federal Official for the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (GAC).

The GAC advises the Assistant Attorney General of the Office of Justice Programs as well as the nation's highest-ranking law enforcement officer, the U.S. Attorney General. Global aids its member organizations and the people they serve through a series of important initiatives. These include the facilitation of Global activities regarding policy recommendations for information privacy, security, infrastructure & standards and intelligence. GAC also plays an important role supporting development of technology resources such as the Justice XML Data Dictionary, Justice Standards Clearinghouse, creation of white papers on data sharing issues, and the dissemination of information via the Global web site.

Prior to joining the Office of Justice Programs, Mr. McCreary served 21-years with the Indiana State Police. Before his retirement from law enforcement, he coordinated activities for Indiana's Integrated Public Safety Commission in support of a statewide voice and data integration initiative.

Mr. McCreary holds a bachelor and master's degree in Criminology from Indiana State University.
